    LALA – Phantom. Album review

I came across LALA from a youtube video by Afaik where he claimed that Divine will be proud and I was like, woah. While I am skeptic about overstatements brodcasted by DHH channels and them signaling every other drop as scene changing, but, making Divine proud is something very specific to my taste. As someone who has grown up listening to Emiway and Divine since school, in my formative years. Mumbai hiphop has always been a thing to be proud of.

Infact, something that I keep worrying about from time to time is that we do not have a definite successor to the Mumbai scene, once the likes of Divine and Emiway retires, there is no one face for Mumbai scene that I can look upto. While this statement stays true, what is also true is, there is a pool of super hungry and talented rappers from Mumbai who I see as the contenders for the spot. And the recent addition to this list is LALA.

In this post, the first post on my blog. I will try to go through the whole Album, song by song, sharing my thoughts and how I feel about the album. Please note that I am not technical and this post as well as all the posts in my blog will be based on personal opinion and vibes as a listener and true lover and follower of desi hiphop.

    1. Pilot

    2. Bhukha Sheher

To start with, the video of this song is particulary admirable. While the song itself switches between the life of LALA and the life of the general population living in the hoods of Mumbai. The video focuses on signifying the struggles and more particularly the hunger of the city.

While someone who is not from Mumbai might think of this video as a critic of hardships and kind of a rat race that middle class has to go through.
